Carambola was a true paradise. We loved the facility, the beach, our room, the Friday night buffet. Our one complaint was the very slow service for food. At first, I thought the people around us who got up and left before being served were just impatient and needed to get into vacation mode, but after we waited for THREE HOURS for a hamburger at the grill when they were not busy, I understood there was truly a problem. The next day, we ordered Ceasar salads and even commented that there would be no cooking. That took 2 and one half hours. The drinks came right away, but after that the waitresses stood at the bar by the cash register (perhaps studying their text books) and did not even look around to see the customer activity until they rushed to the counter where the food was waiting for them to serve. The french fries were cold so it was not even an issue of the cook being slow.
