| Kauai's east side sometimes referred to as the Coconut Coast for the groves of coconut palms that grow in resort areas. The most populated district on the island, about 16,000 of the island's 58,000 residents reside in the Wailua/Kapaa area. Kapaa is a great place to experience local life, with inexpensive restaurants and an abundance of little shops and shopping plazas. There are also some fine beaches in the area and an excellent view of the Sleeping Giant, an odd formation on a mountain ridge between Wailua and Kapaa, is a landmark that's accessible with a pair of hiking shoes and a bottle of water. |

These 8 low-rise Hawaiian plantation style buildings are set in six acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and swaying palm trees.
