Restaurants: El Arrecife: The main restaurant open for breakfast & dinner buffet style will now be air-conditioned and the entire restaurant will be remodeled with new floors, buffet lines, furniture and decoration. Tentazione: This restaurant formerly serving Mexican Cuisine will be tranformed into a new Italian Restaurant and will be fully remodeled. Suki: We will be opening a new specialty restaurant with Asian cuisine and sushi bar. Il Piacere: This restaurant and cocktail bar which serves fine international cuisine will maintain it's flair and decoration. Coconut Snack and Grill: This area open for lunch and snacks is being completed re-designed and will be more functional and completely new.
Bars: Melange Lobby Bar: is being completely transformed and will now become "Desire Lounge", re-designed to become a beautiful lounge area with bar service and lounges, beds, for clients to enjoy. This area includes the second swimming pool which will be transformed and feature two water mirrors and lounge area. Nude Jacuzzi Lounge Bar: The notorious roof-top clothing-optional Jacuzzi lounge and bar features a 30-person hot tub that is finished in Venetian Tile with hues ranging from the bright blues of the Caribbean Sea on one side of the lounge to the earthy beiges of the Mayan jungle on the other. The Resort is open only to Couples for their Funtastic Pleasure. Along with a selection of restaurants, lounges, gym and spa, you will find a wide variety of activities, entertainments, land and water sports to enjoy.
The focal point is the large nude pool - with a shallow section for non-swimmers. Most daytime activities arranged by a team of employees and entertainers, take place in and around this pool, including introductory scuba-diving lessons. A tennis court, table tennis tables and board games provide more active entertainments.

To protect the quality of environmentally sensitive
Marine Protected Areas (MPA), the Mexican Government has instituted Article 198,
requiring anyone using recreational or sports activities in or near these protected
areas to pay a fee, which is designated for the continued protection of these
natural attractions. The Reef located by Desire Resort is a designated MPA. A
$2.00 USD per person/day/site will be charged to visit or use each MPA. This fee
may be paid directly to the Protected Area. All guests who use snorkel equipment,
kayaks, windsurfers, Hobbie Cats, etc. are obligated to pay this fee and must
wear a bracelet to serve as proof. Bracelets may be purchased at Desire's Sports
and Activities Desk

Our vacation was very good. The Desire Resort is an excellent resort. Staff and all accommodations were very good. We would definitely return. You just have to be a person with a "liberal" attitude, if you go to Desire. If their website makes a person uncomfortable, then it is not the place.
We used Transbeach to take us to and from the airport. They were good. We used taxis a couple times while we were there, and they were very good, too.
We didn`t do any major tours. We did one catamaran trip to Isla Mujerus, with a group from the resort. It was fun. We took a cab into Puerto Morelas one evening, for supper. It is still a quaint little town, only 10 minutes from the resort, that is trying hard to attract tourism dollars. We took a cab into Cancun on Super Bowl Sunday, to watch the game. I did some scuba diving. Did a wreck dive and a reef dive. There is some good diving very near the resort. Otherwise we just laid on the beach, relaxed, and enjoyed the activities at the resort.
We really can`t think of anything negative about the trip. Even the Cancun airport was very easy and nice. We are just glad we didn`t stay on the Hotel Zone strip of Cancun. Looks way too crowded.
