Tahiti - Papeete Vacations
|
Papeete is the capital of French Polynesia, the main transport hub of the islands and the best place to start exploring the archipelago. There are several interesting museums, the most popular being the Museum of Tahiti and Other Islands with its comprehensive collection of cultural artifacts. The Gauguin Museum traces the life and works of the French painter who made French Polynesia his home. Another sight is the Tahiti Perles Centre features the rare and lovely Pinctada Margaritifera, the Tahitian black pearl. One of the most popular beaches is Bain Lot. There are also hiking excursions to the interior of Tahiti and day trips to outer islands.
Round trip transfers in Bora-Bora are mandatory; all hotels are located on an inlet, transfers are by boat and have to be pre-arranged. |

| A typical Polynesian style lobby, medium size, open style. Low rise (3 storey) building, amongst gardens and palm trees, with a number of overwater bungalows grouped around a small island. Two restaurants with French and Polynesian cuisine. One restaurant is located on the ground floor, next to the garden terrace (covered but not enclosed). Le Lotus restaurant is overwater, by the lagoon near the white sand swimming pool. |

Furnishings are in a colourful, Polynesian Colonial style, rooms all have modern facilities, bathtub and shower and Tahitian toiletries. All rooms have a private terrace or balcony.
